"If I ever disown, repudiate, or apologize for the Cause for which Lee fought and Jackson died, let the Lightning's of Heaven rend me,
and the scorn of all good men and true women be my portion. Sun, Moon, Stars, all fall on me when I cease to love The Confederacy. 'Tis the Cause, not the fate of the Cause, that is glorious!"
Major R.E. Wilson, C.S.A
Camp meetings are on the first Thursday of every month at American Legion Post 81, 145 Twin Lakes Rd. Ripley, MS 38663 at 7:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted. To View Map Click Here100 Plus Members - Welcomes youPage Last UpdatedNovember 22, 2021

Charge to the Sons of Confederate Veterans
"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish."
Lt. General Stephen Dill Lee, Commander General,
United Confederate Veterans,
New Orleans, Louisiana, April 25, 1906.

Tippah County Confederate Monument
We are undertaking getting our Confederate Monument refurbished. It is going to be a long and diligent task but it is something that needs to be done and it is up to us to see it through. The Thomas Spight Chapter U.D.C. dedicated the statue in September 1911. I found an article in an old Sentinel dated September 21, 1911 when the dedication was held. It was a wonderful occasion for them as it will be for us once we finish our task .

McCluney related the life history and military record of Beauregard who was a West Point graduate and an engineering officer in the Mexican-American War. When Louisiana seceded Beauregard resigned his US commission and became the first Brigadier General of the Confederate Army. Beauregard commanded Confederate forces throughout the war including the Battle of Shiloh and Siege of Corinth. After the war Beauregard returned to Louisiana as a railroad executive and advocate for black civil rights. .
